Due to COVID-19 we are implementing further health procedures according to Government guidelines; 

  • Contactless Deliveries

  • Contactless payment 

  • No onsite sales.


Hygiene Procedures

Frozen Products: 

  • Latex gloves and sanitizer use monitored at all junctures

  • Majority of frozen fruit picked in the December  2019 - January 2020 period. This fruit is then blast frozen to -20C without further handling

  • Fruit is then packed into boxes in a facility certified under the National Program 2. 

  • Fruit is then distributed from the same facility into required products following strict hygiene procedures. 

  • Full traceability records are recorded as specified by “ProductRecallNZ”

Fresh Products:

  • Use of latex gloves during picking.

  • Trays are washed before and afterwards with government recommended products. 

  • Exposure to UV light (sunshine for as long as practical. 

  • Packaging into closed packaging

  • Cleaning schedules are carried out and recorded before and after each packing session to ensure traceability. Blakcatberries has been operating for some 30-years with the last three years under strict National Program 2 certification as dicated by MPI. We supply Hastings and Havelock North New World and Capeview 4 Square, also under strict protocols as laid down by Foodstuffs.


Are we considered an essential services?

Yes: We are supplying supermarkets and offering a whole food contactless delivery service.

Food delivery other than cooked prepared meals such as takeaways is allowed (eg supermarket home delivery, food parcels from charitable organisations, subscription food boxes, or any other whole-food delivery service).

 Ordering, payment and delivery must be contactless and the business must operate safely within the general health guidelines such as physical separation and hygiene.

A whole food is - a natural food and especially an unproccessed one (such as vegetable or fruit)
